Boingo Wireless Appoints New Board Member
Industry Veteran Brings Digital Media and Travel Industry Expertise
LOS ANGELES, June 17, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Boingo Wireless (Nasdaq:WIFI), the leading DAS and Wi-Fi provider that serves consumers, carriers and advertisers worldwide, today announced the appointment of Terry Jones, founder and former CEO of Travelocity, to the company’s Board of Directors.
Jones brings more than 40 years of travel and digital ecommerce industry experience, including executive roles with American Airlines and Sabre before founding Travelocity in 1996. He is currently the managing principal of Essential Ideas, which helps companies transition to the digital economy, and serves on the boards of Rearden Commerce, Smart Destinations and Luxury Link. Jones recently retired as founding Chairman of Kayak.com
“The travel industry has always been central to our business, and with digital media becoming an increasingly important part of our portfolio, Terry’s background provides our board with additional insights to guide future decisions,” said David Hagan, CEO of Boingo Wireless.
Jones was elected to the Board during the Boingo Wireless shareholders meeting on June 14, where Charles Boesenberg was also re-elected to his position as Director. Jones replaces Marc Geller of Sternhill Partners, who has served on the Board since 2003.
“We’d like to thank Marc for his decade of service to Boingo,” added Hagan. “Sternhill Partners was one of our earliest investors, and he helped us navigate an emerging marketplace and evolve from start-up mode to profitability.”
