PacStar Ruggedized Mobile Units Provide Warfighters With Secure, Converged Unified Communications Capabilities in Battlefield Environments
PacStar®, a leading developer of advanced communications solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), today announced it has been awarded a contract totaling $12.2 million for the delivery of several hundred of the firm’s mobile tactical communications units to US Forces-Afghanistan (USFOR-A).
PacStar will deliver 225 units of its 2010 SIPR / NIPR Baseband Node (SNBN), which provides secure, converged, unified communications, over wired 3G/4G, WiMax and satellite networks. The firm will also deliver 450 units of its PacStar 2011 SIPR / NIPR / Coalition Enclaves (SNCE), which, when combined with the PacStar 2010, provides USFOR-A with simultaneous, expanded access to three major command and control communications networks (NIPR / SIPR / CENTRIXS) that will connect to established Harris RF-7800W Broadband Ethernet Radio antennas.
