PacStar® Awarded $8.4 Million Contract by US Marine Corps for Deployable Communications Kits

PacStar’s multi-network PacStar 4100 Kits enhance MARCORSYSCOM initial entry capabilities

Portland, OR — September 10, 2013 – PacStar®, a leading developer and supplier of advanced communications solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), today announced it has been awarded the Expeditionary Command and Control Suite (ECCS) Program of Record to supply the PS4100 Rapid Response Kit (RRK), PS4100 Commander’s Kit (CK) and PS4100 Sensitive Compartmentalized Information Kit (SCIK) to the US Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM). The contract, with options, is valued at more than $8.4 million and will be delivered over the next six months.

The PacStar 4100, which sits at the core of the ECCS kits, is a rapid deployable solution that will provide voice, video and data to early entry Forward Command Elements via Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet) and the Non-secure Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet) until larger C2 elements arrive.

The MARCORSYSCOM ECCS Program Office selected the PacStar 4100 due to the system’s success in supporting mobile communication missions for all branches of the Department of Defense; its extensive accreditations for simultaneous SIPRnet, NIPRnet, CENTRIXS and JWICS connectivity; and proven reliability. The PacStar 4100 is a JITC and US Navy certified, portable communications package built with Cisco technology and managed by PacStar IQ-Core Software, providing satellite connectivity to the Internet and the DISN (Defense Information Systems Network).

“In the initial stages of a mobile operation, it is critical for senior command and tactical personnel to have ready access to critical voice and data connectivity to multiple networks simultaneously – prior to the installation of more permanent communications capabilities,” said Bob Dunn, chief executive officer, PacStar. “PacStar’s IQ-Core® Software continues to demonstrate its value and benefits throughout the Marine Corp, and we are pleased to expand our presence as the program-of-record deployable communications solution.”
