Nashville Extends Boingo Partnership, Enhances Airport Wireless

Boingo to Install Distributed Antenna System and Deliver Ad-Supported Wi-Fi Throughout Airport

Boingo Wireless (NASDAQ: WIFI), the leading DAS and Wi-Fi provider that serves consumers, carriers and advertisers worldwide, and the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA), today announced an expanded wireless partnership, naming Boingo the exclusive neutral host wireless network partner for Nashville International Airport (BNA).
Boingo will provide comprehensive cellular and enhanced Wi-Fi services under an exclusive long-term agreement. Boingo will install and manage a new neutral host Distributed Antenna System (DAS) network for the airport, which will boost cellular coverage and data capacity throughout the Music City hub. Boingo’s neutral host network approach maximizes participation from multiple wireless carriers, ensuring that travelers will enjoy a carrier grade connection. Boingo will also manage any future deployments of cellular small cells at the airport.

Boingo will enhance existing Wi-Fi services at the airport, extending complimentary, ad-supported Wi-Fi to all travelers, in all areas of the airport. Boingo will continue to offer premium Wi-Fi access for subscribers and travelers engaging in high-bandwidth activities. The company will also extend the Wi-Fi network to new areas of the airport, including car rental facilities, cell phone lots, internal roadway systems and aircraft parking areas.

“Nashville is booming. The city was one of the fastest growing in the U.S. in 2013, and we are seeing increased traffic from business travelers and tourists visiting Music City. Extending our long-standing partnership with Boingo will give us a complete wireless solution to meet the needs of our diverse, connected passenger base,” said Rob Wigington, president and CEO of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. “Boingo will provide a new, robust free Wi-Fi experience and end-to-end support, from DAS network design and installation, to advertising sales, and 24/7 customer care.”

“The Nashville International Airport served more than 10 million passengers last year, and is growing quickly. Our new neutral host DAS system and enhanced Wi-Fi networks will be designed to scale as the airport grows and serve the needs of connected passengers today, and in the future,” said Nick Hulse, President of Boingo Wireless. “We’re proud to continue our partnership with the Nashville International team, and to take the airport’s wireless to the next level.”

Nashville Airport was among the first airports in the nation to offer a Passpoint-enabled network to passengers through its relationship with Boingo, providing seamless access to the secure Wi-Fi network using the industry’s latest technologies. Users who have Passpoint-capable devices and have installed a Passpoint profile will automatically be connected to the WPA2-encrypted network.

In addition to network installation and operation, Boingo will manage Wi-Fi advertising sales and support for the airport through Boingo Media, the company’s advertising and sponsorship services group.

Boingo is the world’s leading airport Wi-Fi provider, managing services at more than 75 airports, including some of the world’s busiest, including Dubai International and O’Hare International. The company also manages Wi-Fi services at five of the top ten highest traffic airports in the United States, including Los Angeles International, New York’s John F. Kennedy, and Miami International. Boingo is also the leading provider of neutral host Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) in U.S. airports.
